William 'Wilmar' McClurg

William “Wilmar” McClurg holds a special place in the history and heart of Portavogie Rangers Football Club. A proud Portavogie man and devoted supporter of local football, Wilmar was more than a familiar face around the club — he was part of its fabric.

For many years, Wilmar gave Portavogie Rangers the kind of loyalty that every community club is built upon. He was there through the ordinary Saturdays and the memorable occasions, offering his support, encouragement and presence to players, officials and fellow supporters alike. His commitment was recognised by the club when he was made an Honorary Member, a fitting tribute to a man whose service and dedication reflected the very best values of Portavogie Rangers.

Wilmar’s contribution was not measured only in titles or trophies, but in faithfulness, friendship and the quiet example he set. He represented the spirit of the club: loyal, humble, dependable and proud of Portavogie. Generations of Rangers people knew him as a stalwart — someone whose association with the club strengthened its sense of identity and community.

Even in later years, Wilmar remained connected to the club he loved, and his presence at games was a reminder of the bond between Portavogie Rangers and the people who have carried it through the decades. His recognition as an Honorary Member was richly deserved, and his legacy continues in the memories of those who shared matchdays, conversations and club occasions with him.

Wilmar passed away on 19 July 2022, but his name remains part of the story of Portavogie Rangers. In honouring him in the Club Hall of Fame, we recognise a true clubman: a loyal supporter, a respected figure and a lasting example of what it means to belong to the Portavogie Rangers family.
